First, what is ICF?
ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) is a system of expanded polystyrene rigid insulation blocks separated by plastic webbing. They are used as an integrated concrete form to pour a concrete wall instead of a traditional wood plank or plywood form. ICF blocks come in interlocking sections, so a wall system fits tightly together. Once the blocks are in place, concrete is poured and finishes like drywall. Then siding is attached to fastener strips embedded in the insulation. ICF walls are typically between 6" and 12" thick and have a lifespan of over 100 years, with minimal maintenance required as the foam will not degrade.
why you should choose icf
One of the biggest advantages of ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) for homeowners is Energy Efficiency!
ICF walls have a 60% less energy loss versus a traditional build as the continuous foam panels provide an R-value of R-25 and above, giving you a lifetime of savings by reducing your heating and cooling costs. |
